The Adventures of Gretch Gurtleflapz is a personal project I’ve had bouncing around my head for years, so I thought it was about time I developed it. It’s also a good opportunity to keep my skills sharp and experiment with including AI within my workflow.

I start with a rough rough sketch, then clean and refine it before rendering with AI. It takes quite a few goes to get it right and a fair bit of photoshop after that. None of this was a random spin of the all powerful AI wheel. Everything was a conscious choice.

The basic story is about Gretch and his other half, who are essentially Goblin refugees who end up in Low Town. A shanty city built outside the grand city walls of Swanton, a citadel that is itself separated into two tiers. A pleasant, if somewhat rundown outer middleclass mercantile town and an inner grand royal palace.
